WOW that's good to know. I have a "spare" Bosch CPS sitting in the box as a "just in case mine fails" part. It is likely one of those recalled units. I will look into that recall and try to get some details. Maybe Mercedes will swap out this part for the upgraded part??
It's worth asking... but I'd speculate that unless you have a receipt from that dealer, they won't do an even swap with another part. Service departments exist for one reason only -- to make residual money off the customer

Never buy electronic parts on Ebay... it's usually someone's discounted out dated parts someone has liquidated. Or, worse yet, Chinese knock offs. Better to go direct to a parts source even if they have to order it...
