It's not so much Chrysler 'allowing' cars to sit around, more that they had no choice - remember the Crossfire was a pretty slow seller after the first couple of years - mostly due to unfavourable press (idiots!) and too high a price tag, so many later cars had to wait a while for buyers - eg my SRT6 was built in March 2006 but wasn't registered until the very end of Dec = 9 months - why did no-one want it sooner? - too expensive.
Approx 4250 RHD UK cars were made - the earliest registered as 53 plates, yet the first production cars were made Feb 2003 - why do we see no 03 plates? Maybe because RHD UK production started later and was tiny by comparison - just over 5% of the total. If any UK cars were made towards the end, the proportion would be even smaller, hence very few 57 or 08 plates - and many of those could have been made a good 6 - 9 months before first registration.
So Blingo, no doubt you've got a lovely car there but what date is on the door pillar label?
