Sorry I thought your only problem was the chirp. If you set the alarm off it should make a lot of noise. If you press the panic button it should too. If it doesn't make any noise I would assume (but I have been wrong before!) that the battery in the alarm is dead. Usually makes a sound if it is dying but if it was dead when you bought it you will probably need to replace the alarm (siren) - it is on the firewall and there is a write up on it:
