FYI: NHTSA is going to hold a "Hearing" on the safety aspect. Their result must be published in the official Federal Register of the U.S. Gov't. We contend that the detachment of any motor vehicle window, fixed in position or otherwise, IS Safety Related, whether or not the danger or risk is imminent at the time of separation, which can only be determined based upon factors/conditions prevailing at the time of Each incident of occurrence! If nothing else, Our Gov't should add to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards: ANY fixed position motor vehicle window should NOT become separated/detached from it's mounting point for the expected reasonable lifetime of such vehicle/window!
