OK, first, 180 has a car of his own, second anytime something spins on a shaft, it first has a bearing the shaft will spin on, and if there is fluid on one side or another, then there must be a seal to keep the fluid in. 101 mechanics, not necessarily 180 mechanics. So yes, if behind the plate is where the fluid is being slung, then my guess is a seal. Not sure why the seal would fail, but there it is. Good luck.....
