Re: Supercharger oil leak
Back some time ago the question was raised as to why there was a hole through the bolt that held the pulley assembly onto the SC shaft. Reasons were bandied about but Rudy put forth what seemed to be the most logical. He reasoned that the hole allowed the pressure inside the gearbox portion of the SC to remain at the ambient air pressure outside the SC gearbox. If the pressure was too much higher oil would be forced through the bearing taking with it some oil. The hole in the shaft would be away from the oil and therefore only air would come out the hole in the bolt. Seems logical to me, I hope I have explained what Rudy actually meant correctly.
Therefore the oil leaks could be because the OEM bolt has been replaced with a bolt with no hole through its center. Or the seal on the bearing behind the pulley is shot.
I have pictures of a disassembled super charger, maybe I'll put them up here if anyone is interested.
