Default Re: Crankshaft Position Sensor

Wow, lots of posts on this subject.

I have a 2005 Coupe. Have replaced the RCM last year.

A few days ago I started the car, drove it across the street, turned it off...when I went to start it to leave it turned over but refused to 'catch'. Then after letting it sit for a few minutes, it decided to turn over just fine. Now the check engine light is on. The German repair shop guy over the phone said it's probably the crankshaft sensor but he would need to see it to know for sure. He also said the car could start several more times then quit. Is this classic symptoms of a sensor gone bad? It was hot to the touch. Being a woman I have not worked under the hood much...but are sensors easy to fix?

Thanks for any help, guys...I will probably have it in the shop this coming week.
I love the little car, it's a real head turner!
