Naphtha is a non oily paint thinner that evaporates without a trace. It is a mild solvent and is great for cleaning up lots of things without hurting the piece you are saving. I have cleaned fabrics and carpet spots with it and used my shop vac to pull out the residue. It is flammable, so use good sense and dont try to vacuum up a quart of it. Just use in moderate amounts that can evaporate before soaking the dustbag of your vac.
Any paint department will have VM&P naphtha in quarts or gallons. It's also good for cleaning parts and greasy tools.
