I automatically replace low beams or the whole thing with Silverstars and have since the turn of the century. I have yet to have one burn out but then I do not drive any car much and few at night (and now that we are past the solistice the days are getting longer, don't like dark by 6). Those in the frozen north have it worse.
Did find it very easy to put the bulb in the XF .cocked which destroys the pattern which seems a bit narrow even when right.
ps been running halogens since 1964 when my dad brought a pair back from France for me. Now I don't remember if Cibie's or Marchals. Used to love to drive late at night on deserted back Florida TLBs just lighting up the world.
