Default Re: oil filter

PG knows his stuff...
From M/B Forum:
This is the Mann Fleece Filter that Mercedes recommends for high-interval oil changes on the W211 (like our 2004 E500) and the W164 (like our 2008 ML350). It isn't "like" that filter. It IS that filter. Yes it says Purolator Classic (a mid-range Purolator line), but when you pull it out it says "Made in Germany" IN GERMAN on it and is a Mann filter in a Purolator box. WHY? Because Mann owns Purolator now. It and Bosch bought Purolator filters in a joint venture years ago, and then Bosch sold its interest to Mann. This lets Mann penetrate the US aftermarket without having to sell under its own brand, but gives those of us who WANT the Mann product a way to get it at dealers that don't carry Mann.
