Default Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?

Just ordered the springs/shocks suspension kit from Donovan at Ground Control Systems.
I know my particular project won't interest many/most owners, since many would want to have more handling/performance from the suspension, but I guess I'm the odd man out since I want a suspension that will take some of the harshness out of the ride, especially over rough pavement. Since Donovan can "custom " design the components, I'm getting the "touring" version of the setup. I'm looking for the car to be more of a comfortable long distance touring car that will be easier on my back after 10 hours in the car.

He said that the Konis can be set to 25 percent softer that the SRT shock, and that the stock NA shock is 15 percent softer than the SRT, so this should yield about 10 percent softer than stock NA shock.
So that combined with the linear springs, rather than the stock progressive springs, with a 16 percent softer spring rate for the rears, he says (and I'm hoping) will make a noticeable difference. Not trying to turn it into a Cadillac ( nothing wrong with a Cadillac!!), just want a somewhat smoother ride.

Donovan also said that this setup will give the car a (slightly?) more neutral balance, which will reduce understeer, and that sounds good to me too, although I never drive a car to its limit.

Plus the adjusters will enable the rear of the car to be lowered, and I think the car will look better lowered in the rear maybe an inch or so, visually reducing the amount of unfilled space in the rear wheel well.

Also I'm looking at the Mandrus wheels, 17x8 front and 18x8.5 rears, with tire diameters as close to stock as possible (25.1" front, 26" rear, correct?) That will add an inch of sidewall, which will add a little more cushion.

So this is a big experiment for me, I've never modified a car to the extent of customizing the suspension. Based on everything I've learned about shocks/springs and suspensions from Donovan, I have reasonably high expectations of achieving the objective of this project. He was really helpful and generous with his time, explaining all this to a neophyte.
