That is a completely misleading statement...the Bosch pump used if the Fords is the same pump in majority of OE, Whipple kits, Kenne Bell kits, Magnusion kits and so on. It's the most common IC pump there is, so yes more reported failures then the repurposed pump we have stock. If you want a stock car and don't want to pull the pins from the connector and put them in the new one then yes get a stock pump. If he is willing to put a Johnson pump on he must be willing to cut the OE plug off...
My son has spent a great deal of time around Cobras and majority of the ones using the Meziere WP-136 are drag racers. Most of them only pump to a ice box and not a HX when drag racing. Seems like the road racers and street guys(all makes)are going with the Stewart pumps and getting them reprogrammed.
