I have heard claims as well....but I am one who has tried to push the limit. I can run up to 160 in just under a mile...but as I approach the 150 mark, it is slow going.... I have managed 160 several times in the coupe and in the roadster. The coupe is much quicker getting up there...but I have only moved the needle over 160 once and it was obvious I would need another mile to top it out, and I just didn't have that much room. 10000' runways just isn't going to give you room to top it out and shut it down... Maybe those out west have a good 4 or 5 mile stretch of asphalt, but none around here.
