Just an update. I spent most of the day trying to reset, I can get a chime - but I am pretty certain it is an "error" chime as I am pushing the button twice after the 4 second mark (that was on purpose as a "just in case"). I have followed all the advice on this forum and the SLK forums, let the car go to sleep, cussed it, pleaded with it, doors open/closed, hood open/closed, parking brake on/off, seat belt fastened/unfastened and prayed to the Chrysler and Mercedes gods - all to no avail. Apparently I just do NOT have the touch.

Somewhere on here someone suggested chugging a beer for every failed attempt. That will be my next step and when I wake up in the morning I will find out if I succeeded or failed. ;-)

Just a side thought, has anyone with a 2007 or 2008 done this reset successfully? This wouldn't be the first time I found the owner's and service manual inaccurate for a certain year vehicle... Just a thought.
