I have done a few 1/2 mile events with the car and have talked a lot with those that have done the 180-200+ runs in the 1 mile events. You need the horses to make it happen or a hell of a long flat calm stretch. Think about how hard you are working the car if it takes you 4 or 5 miles to take it up there. I have had some long runs on the interstates here. It is a great car to drive in those 140-145 areas, but it starts to work after that...
You may well be right, the aerodynamics of our car aren't as slippery as the Ferraris, McClarens, Paganis, etc. Some work would have to be done to make it more slippery. The new Z06 'Vette tops out at 185 due to aero devices to add downforce and they are pumping out 650 hp.
