Exactly what I was thinking when I first viewed the pictures.
I had an instrument instructor back when I was getting my pilot's licenses that had a alloy '55 gull wing.
He let me drive it, lovely car. At the time ( 1972 ), he told me he had been offered the astounding sum of $40,000 for it.
One just sold at auction for 4.62 million bucks.
