I added the shim and it looks better now. What looks like chips in the silver paint under the radio in the photo was actually that black goo of the harness. That really made me upset, I felt the the spots were raised and not sunken, it came off easily when rubbed. I also installed the mike, I ran th wire down the A pillar, through the hole under the a pillar trim, ran it high up under the dash tying it to wires etc and through to the area behind the radio.
I have not put it all together yet as I am waiting for a dash cam to come from China. I will hard wire it in, running the wire under the windshield trim to the a A pillar, down it,through the A pillar hole and hard wire it to the headlight switch to a wire that becomes live when the day timer running lights come on.
I am doing the wires for the flashing HMBL at the moment.
