Its around $1700 there to do it. I assume with the motor at a lower compression running without the supercharger could be dangerous.
Are you sure it is the electromagnet and not just the pulley with the clutch plate coming loose on it?
I can see them charging $1,700 for that pulley. The pulley can be purchased used for less than $300 and put on easily. I cannot remember any magnet failing on the SC ever on this forum.
The magnet part of the SC can maybe be purchased from the SC maker if not from Mercedes or Chrysler. If you went to the right people it probably could be rewound, it isn't rocket science.
I would get exactly what it is they are changing and get it written down before committing yourself to anything.
