You are living my nightmare. I hope it works out for you. Michigan has no-fault and the only time I was hit there was a process to follow to recover my deductible from the at-fault driver. Of course, he had insurance. One of the 75% in Michigan who does. It's just too easy to buy insurance a month at a time and then stop paying after the car is registered. I do not carry comprehensive and collision after a car is 8-10 years old because it is not cost effective. Even though my XFs are almost pristine and relatively low mileage, the insurance company goes by comparables and would pay me dog$hit. So I pocket the $400/year times five vehicles and "self insure".
