Re: New Member doing research
i am a 45 year old female gear head. I change my own oil, replaced my own plugs and wires, etc. I have to say as much as I love my Crossfire, it's been very expensive to maintain. The tires alone are just ridiculous. And it costs rougly $85 per oil change because you BETTER buy that nice fleece filter and it takes 8.5 quarts of Mobil 1 pure synthetic oil per change. Only certain (rare) dealerships can work on your car when something goes wrong. For instance, my tire pressure monitor system has gone out and I need to have it reset. I can't find a local dealer that has the machine to work on it. While I'm handy with a wrench as well, I don't have the capability to fix THAT. My sunvisor just broke on my driver's side - don't even get me started on how much they wanted for them (several hundred dollars?!?!) and then how hard it was to find one. Luckily I found a fellow owner who was selling his old ones. Also, we have no spare tire, there's nowhere to store one. So if you get a flat out on the road, you gotta call for a tow or have a friend pick you up and take your whole damn tire with you.
It's little things like that which cause me great pain and sadness. But then I get in and drive it and I forget all about that. :-) It drives like a dream and even at almost 200,000 miles she's still strong, quick, and beautiful - and turns heads. And if you're worried about getting groceries in it, you'll be surprised just how big that trunk area is!
