The oem pulley had three shims behind it, my new one came with only one, that was going to be my next question, what do i do? it did seem like maybe the pulley was just a bit too close, and the noise i heard may have very well been it touching slightly.
The OEM pulley should be shimmed so that there is .012 to .016 gap between the clutch plate and the SC drive plate. I would guess .012 to .020 should be OK though. The clutch plate should pull back under spring pressure to sit on the stops behind the pulley.
