Another sound once you have started your car is the air pump for emissions
It runs at start up and periodically while the engine is running

No relation to the BAS ESP light though but to reset that light while the car is running turn the steering wheel fully to the left and then fully to the right and then back to center
The light should go off right away or within a few miles of driving
This light is generally triggered by a faulty wheel speed sensor


BAS is your Brake Assist System and is designed to maximize the vehicles braking maneuvers.

ESP is the Electronic Stability Program.
This corrects for over/understeering of the vehicle by applying brakes to the appropriate wheel.
Engine torque is also limited.
