Default Alternator

I'm a bit frustrated here. I thought I had a great deal on an alternator from Advanced Auto. A couple hundred bucks. It came in and the pulley was the smaller six groove. I thought it would be an easy swap, but the eight groove that I need for my belt has a spacer built into it, and the six doesn't, so when you swap them out it makes my pulley stick out about an eight inch too far. Took it back, and they can't get the other for sure. So I've been on the hunt and can only find the dealer new ones ranging in price from eight hundred to over a grand!!! I did find a place called AE (American Engine) in Cal that has them on line for three hundred, but they won't answer the phone to confirm it's the eight groove......Anybody have a line on one, let me know please.
