Many thanks for your advice guys. After many days of research and conflicting info from specialist suppliers, I have decided to bite the bullet and obtain a complete new key/remote fob, from my local Chrysler dealer, chipped and programmed by them for the price of........ (wait for it)...... £340. That's a kick in the teeth, but I don't want to be stuck in the situation of having no spare key.
