I recently replaced my head unit. There are many posts on it, but I think the preferred is a marine Kenwood with a color adjustable back light (don't have the model number handy, sorry). There are pictures on here and it looks really good and matches very well. I would have gone with it, but I wanted an SD card reader, I ended up with a Blaupunkt cd-less model that had a SD card behind the face. The Blapunkt head units are a direct plug in, except for the antenna cable (if I remember correctly), which was a great selling point for me.

Thanks for the info on the woofer repair. I think another member has given a step by step guide if you wanted to repair these yourself as well.
