Colleagues...I've read through so many posts now regarding Oil Changes and Oil Filters and think that I've put the following details together properly. I didn't want to get caught without when it is time to change oil, so I checked this site and several MB sites to validate that the proper MB number for our oil filter is 000-180-26-09. This translates to the extended life fleece oil filter. The old paper filter element is 000-180-22-09. They are obviously easy to confuse.

Further research led me to the MANN HU 718/5 X which is the aftermarket, German manufactured extended life fleece filter. This is the equivalent of 000-180-26-009.

I found these filters on EBAY in a pack of 4, listed as Mercedes C240 C280 C32 C230 C43 C500 oil filters. The price is $51.99 plus $8.50 shipping and handling...$60.49.

I hope that this is a good price, but I haven't had much luck searching on the MANN part number alone.

The next step will be to buy the Mobil-1 oil, but I don't anticipate any problem with that. I aim to avoid the oil changing woes that so many of you have warned about Wish me luck.
