I left mine there also,, as far as removing the cowling seal ,, as you know i can read my engine temp in 1/2 degree increments,, I found that with the cowl rubber removed my temp was up 1 1/2 degrees with a manual gauge you will not see the increase,, what is does, is it forces the air over the engine to help cool it. now this is for the V8 as it is 3" more forward than the V6,,,never tested this on the V6.

if someone has a thermocouple with gauge or meter,, maybe this could be tested on the V6 at the throttle body with rubber in and with rubber out. jim
