Re: Crossfire vs. Grand Prix GT??? (Do I have a shot?)
Just dragging, straight line from a standing start, is a matter of: 1) Power to weight ratio, 2) traction, and 3) gearing. A standard XF, with 215 hp at 3,050 lbs is 14.2 lb/hp. I don't have the Pontiac's weight, but I'll assume it is at least 3,500 lbs. So with 260 hp that would be 13.5 lb/hp, he'd have you, except that 260 hp with front wheel drive is a recipe for tire smoke and little else. The XF's high gearing doesn't help at the launch, but it will be pulling VERY strong in the 70-100 mph range at the end of your run. This one will be close, and likely down to driver skill. The worse the traction on the selected stretch of road, the better the XF will do.
