You are correct, I need a seat be able to go back far enough while the back is reclined at 35-40 degrees. This was the problem I had with the Crossfire: reclined it would not go back far enough to stretch out even though am only 5'10". So I carved a big hunk out of the bulkhead and now it goes back far enough (just).
Not just preference: if I can't take most of the weight of my back on my shoulders it gets painful quickly. Lying down I can drive for hours.
Will say I never had to mod a car this much before.
ps also had to remove the dead pedal so my left leg wasn't cramped & raise the seat to compensate for the wheel that does not tilt (is all the way in)
So guess I'll find out on Thursday whether I fit the S2000. At least it doesn't seem to have a fixed tonneau cover.
