Re: Check Engine Light code P0505
Well here's one for you boys. I got the code P0505 with engine light. So I went to Auto Zone and they checked it to produce the code. Then ,by recomendation, I went to a nearby Mercedes repair shop ( not the dealer) to check it out . The manager said if he hooks it up to the computer it would cost $75.00. I was ok with that but first asked if they would check for loose fittings or leaking hoses first so as not to incur the full 75, he was ok with that. The tech showed late, I'm waiting in the showroom and see the tech go out to my car with the computer. I already said I had a code P0505. Didn't check for leaks or tighten clamps or anything. Long story short came back saying the IAC was fine but had two other codes, P02A2 and P202B , idle air faults. This and a diagnosis of intake manifold gaskets to be replaced. A total of $845.
After shock set in, I said I would think about it as it was running fine, idle was just slightly high. So I go home checked the clamps and found the right clamp from the needswings cai coupler was a little loose, and found a vacume hose hanging loose from the right side.
disconnected the battery for a few hours, reconnected it . Engine light gone for over 100 miles, and the idle went from about 900 to about 700.
Now running great, scam or what do you think?
I'm going back for my $75.00 bucks based on the fact that they were supposed to check for leaks first.
