Hello all!

When I started my car this evening, the oil light with the squiggly line came on after about 15 seconds. I checked the oil and it was over the max line. I would think that this would trip the HI error but instead the oil light came on. I have tried resetting the oil change reminder and it still hasn't turned the light off. I left it running for a few minutes and the light didn't go off but the engine sounded normal with no knocking or anything. I took it around the block and it drove like normal. Is this a case of a bad sensor or is there something actually wrong with my oil?

It's a 2005 coupe with 71,XXX miles and it has been about 2000 miles since my last oil change if that matters.
