On that note, isn't this an "interference" engine ?
If so ( and I think it is ), if the cam has indeed somehow slipped timing and no damage has yet occurred, it could well happen if the cam slips any more.
Bent valves, holes in pistons, you name it.
Don't mean to overly alarm you, but better said now than later when you find out the hard way.
