I received a quote of $450 to repaint in which seems expensive. The body shop claims that front fenders need to be removed to expose the base of the side surrounds to fully paint. Also, is the surround originally a matte surface or glossy? (I think they are matte- the silver surrounds may be the same- matte?.) If anyone has had any experience with the plastic surround with deteriorating wearing of the surface paint, any info would be greatly appreciated.
The silver surrounds are shiny, I believe the black surround is shiny as well, to match the car.
Have you tried polishing a tiny area? If you have them painted you can take the three parts off the car. You have to be careful when they go back on that they are firmly in place or you will lose them.
