The problem tinting the lights out red causes the direction indicator to show up red even with amber bulbs fitted such as what we use in the Crossfire.
But there is a way around the problem and that's by fitting green bulbs because when you shine a green light though a red lens it makes amber:

So today I picked up the green glass paint well 2 shades as I was unsure how dark it would need to be and lucky I did as I thought it would have needed to be dark green but it was actually light green that gave the more amber light.
I tried to brush it onto the bulbs but it was a mess so decided to pour the paint into a egg cup and dunk the bulbs and this gave a perfect even coverage:

Now I didn't take any pics of the colour before I swapped them but there was no difference between the indicator and the side lights and now I have swapped them there very much amber although it's hard to take a picture that gives a true representation of the colour but you can see there obviously now different to the side lights, but take my word for it there now nice and amber:
