I acquired the car with the glass hanging.. and much like you put it off "dreading" it.. LOL. Mine was a mess from others attempts at repair - regular RTV etc. Just using the flat bladed exacto and scraping everything is what I did. I'm starting to think getting a new primer to the glass is a big part of the "success" with this. And don't worry about excess too much.. it will scrape off later when everything is all set up..
