I had a similar experience.
In between positions with a kid's tuition payment due. The only way to raise enough funds was to sell my 1979 TVR 3000S, one of 150 produced world wide and probably the lowest mileage in the nation. The buyer still has it about a decade and half later.
About fourteen weeks later another payment was due.
