I'd take the holder out and inspect the filter - has it collapsed? Is it saturated with oil - if not, then oil is not flowing.
I added 8 quarts of oil. That's what I've always added during an oil change. I know it's suppose to be 8 liters (8.5 quarts), but I did 8.5 quarts once right before a ToD weekend and I kept getting the high oil level alarm during all the twisties. When I got home, I pulled out about 1/2 quart & afterwards everything was fine. And at 8 quarts, the dipstick shows full on my 2007 (on level ground).
Now funny thing is I thought about the oil filter that night while reading a performance magazine. So the next morning, I removed the oil filter cap & filter. When I checked the oil filter, it looked to be installed correctly; that is the upper most marked line was slightly above the bottom of the oil filter cap. Filter element was saturated with oil. I checked for tightness; everything seemed okay. But being overly cautious, I removed the filter element from the cap and re-installed it, slightly twisting it as I pushed it up into the filter cap. Everything looked solid & as before. For what it's worth, I used a NAPA 7078 filter element (fleece-type) which I had in the garage cabinet & was the same version that I removed during the oil change..
I re-installed oil filter & filter cap. Torqued the cap to the proper tightness. Then restarted the car. Checked for leaks - good to go. And as I stated above, backed the car off the ramps and let it idle. Ran for 15 minutes without any issue. Figured whatever happened mysteriously went away.
Kinda nervous!! Can't really say anything I did corrected a problem. And if the motor locked up due to an oil flow condition, I'm really nervous!! Car seems okay now. Drove it around the neighborhood on Monday after washing. Drives fine; idles smooth.
Gotta pull codes & see what pops up.
