You need a new alarm, the one you have is probably has leaking batteries inside it. That is the usual problem.
There are two options with the alarm, a silent one like you have now or one that softly chirps in syn with the flashing lights. One costs more than the other. There are posts here that give the Mercedes part numbers, do not buy it using the Chrysler part number or from a Chrysler dealer as it will cost twice as much whichever type you buy.
