Re: 9th Annual Spring Tail of the Dragon GTG - March 31 - April 4, 2016
Great to see that nearly half of the group will be first timers, i know that they will be so excited about the weekend, i can guarantee that they will return again and again as the regulars do. As Gary once told me you go the first time for the cars and return each year to see the friends you have made. When people say we are like a family its no exageration. This will be my 8th Dragon and i can honestly say that the friends i have made in the group are the best, we are there for each other for car support and for any personal things that life gives us. I remember my first Dragon very well, i am 6'4" and as i climbed out of my roadster in the lodge parking lot the comments began, " how did you managed to squeeze yourself in" , " is your head above the windshield" , etc, etc. I had made new friends before i had even checked in. The banter never stopped the whole weekend. I was hooked. I have returned for every Dragon since and now class many of the regulars as very close friends.
Here are a few things that will make your weekend go smoother, bring along a set of walkie talkies, great for runs to stay in touch. A flashlight, it is very dark if walking around between the buildings and you can easily trip. Some rainwear ( just in case), sunscreen even this time of year can be hard on roadster owners, any booze you might want to consume in the evenings (discretely of course), a few bottles of water for use during the day, your camera to capture those never to be forgotten moments, and last but not least your smile ( which will not leave you for the whole weekend).
There are always people in the group that bring along spares, such as hoses, belts and bulbs, so if during the weekend you have any failure in your car, shout out, someone will be able to help you i am sure.
Most of all have a great weekend and make new friends, get to know your car and be sure to come back in the fall.
Looking forward to meeting new friends to be, and all my old friends again.
Please dont feel left out we are a very friendly bunch and love hearing new stories and exploits about our cars , so join us all for a great weekend.
See you all very soon
Andy
