I did -10C which is -18F - worth it no matter the cost (which was $50 in my case).
It isn't a big difference. Your fan will come on at 83 C, but the thermostat will remain closed and the engine coolant will continue to warmup to 87 C. With the lower setpoint, your fan will run faster and cool the IC coolant a little more. But it will run very loudly on hot days.
