Default Cat Snap Fever

My car started making an awful noise yesterday. I had no choice but to drive it 45 minutes to work and then back. I have known for a while that the engine light that was displayed on my dash was for an O2 sensor.

Then my car got really loud, indicating that there was a break in the exhaust. Whew.. at least it was not something engine related which I originally thought it might be.

Then I got to thinking.... Holy crap. O2 sensor code probably means that it is my Catalytic Converter. ****, those things are outrageously expensive on these cars.

I pull it in to Midas this morning, they put it on the lift. Yep, it's a bad Cat. @$%^

Luckily it had split right at the weld and there were not other signs of issues with the Cat material inside.

I was out the door $100 later smiling all the way to work knowing that it could have been SO MUCH worse.

That's the happiest I think I have ever been to spend $100 on my car.
