I am sure that if there is any difference then it would be at the upper limits of the cars performance.
They were probably put there to get a smooth flow of air round the bend and cut down turbulence, if so their removal may in fact affect performance negatively.
They were put there for a reason obviously.
I think mods to the NA affect the performance minimally, I did them. When I could I got an SRT, it has more than enough performance for me as it is. You get to notice the extra nominal 112 hp, adding 20 to 30 hp to the NA is hardly noticeable.
