Default Re: used srt6 engine

If you're considering an engine off of eBay. Be sure to get images and a description of the damage to the donor car. Make sure the seller warranties it.

I purchased a complete power train front to back, was assured it was running and tested when it came in. It was supposed to have 12,000 miles on it. Upon receipt at my end, I discovered that the engine had a hole in the oil pan and a crack in the timing cover. Hmm, not to sure how this could have been running.

Had to strip and rebuild the entire engine.

I don't want to scare you, just be sure to ask the questions. One of the engines I was going to consider was from Next Level Auto but it had been stripped of all of the bolt on items.

Best to consider one that's tested and complete for more money or pull yours and have it rebuilt. It'll cost between 3-4 k and will be like new.
