Does the no throttle response problem occur if you turn off the ESP? A search of the Mercedes forum indicated that similar problems have been traced to a faulty micro switch on the brake pedal activating the ESP. They indicated that the problem didn't occur if the ESP was turned off. Might help you narrow down the problem.
