Believe it or not, you have to BUY a dipstick from eBay, or you could use a long skinny tie wrap.
The fluid level is totally temperature dependent, you are supposed to check it with the engine/transmission at operating temperature.

The top mark on the stick is 80 c, which is about 176 f, close to the normal operating temp of 186 f
