Personally, if the battery is over 3 years old, I would start by replacing it. I was chasing my tail for weeks with the multiple lights coming on, along with limp home mode in 2nd gear. Replaced the battery and no more silly lights.

Months later had BAS/ESP light come on randomly, turned out to have a bulge in the middle of a tire and all was well after replacing that.
