So what you are saying is that the original sensor had failed exactly the same way as its replacement? This would appear to be true as there were identical symptoms present.
Something does not sound right here. Although the symptoms are that of a Cam Shaft Position sensor.
Reverse signal? What is that?
A weak signal or no signal is what normally happens when they fail.
