I'm of the opinion that the market value should be determined by what a dealer will take as a trade in. While I do appreciate that private party sales are asking more....it appears the best deals are from larger new car dealers who have taken it in as a trade and will pass the savings to the buyer in a reasonable markup. Personally I wouldn't pay more than my credit union would assess as the value for financing or replacement insurance value.
