That sounds like a good idea. I haven't tried it, but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work. Give it a go! I'm sure a set of good quality 8mm leads made to the right length would be much better than some of the crappy sets that I've bought (that were supposed to fit and were a waste of money).
