Check the troubleshooting section on here for the way to open the trunk. Seems you removed a side marker light and use coat hanger to pull the emergency release.
Not side marker light, it's the DS tag light you remove.
HINT! You can purchase a borescope / endoscope for 10 bucks that will let you see what you are doing in that tiny hole :
